Back in 2004 Sir Richard Branson (Virgin), Burt Rutan (Scaled Composites), and Paul Allen (the initial investor), announced a historic partnership. Virgin would license the technology behind SpaceShipOne (SS1) (the ship Burt Rutan developed to win the Ansari X Prize) and start offering public space flights in 2 to 3 years.
