Want a ride to Space in 2008? Virgin Galactic is taking reservations for space flights now.
Back in 2004 Sir Richard Branson (Virgin), Burt Rutan (Scaled Composites), and Paul Allen (the initial investor), announced a historic partnership. Virgin would license the technology behind SpaceShipOne (SS1) (the ship Burt Rutan developed to win the Ansari X Prize) and start offering public space flights in 2 to 3 years. Watch one of the 1st flights. Still want a ride? Starting this week you can actually reserve your flight. Additionally, Rutan and Branson announced today that they're forming a new company called The Spaceship Company of all things.
